All the talk about Bi-centennial Mack, Kentucky Louie's, what about the good old Gold Nugget Kenworths.  There is one around the corner from me just wasting away. Going on show us your Nugget

My god parents had one from new, 8V92 power and dual range 55000lb diffs, when they sold it the next owner repainted it, destroyed the diffs trying to change the range while moving, blew up the GM and repowered with a cummins and then I believe it was wrecked or run into the ground.

Here's two SAR's that are hiding not too far away from me.

Both are Gold Nuggets, only one original and unmolested, the other one has had a bit of paint splashed around.

Hi Greenie, Re the two SAR's we used to own the front one of the two and yes it is a VERY original Gold Nugget the only mod is the 18 speed. It was built with a 15 speed and was changed to a spicer i think very early in life which the current owner has got and planned to refit. It was bought new i believe by Bob Ratcliff of Castlemaine and was owned by Inverno's of Koo Wee Rup. I can confidently say that the current owner has every intention of keeping this truck as original.

Very unusual then Crackers, he bought it because the chassis number said it was a Gold Nugget, and he got Kenworth to say " YEP that's one of 'em ".

Possibly Kenworth might have it wrong then ? Smiley

G'day all,
Hope you all saw in the New Year in style(but safely) and have got your head back together.

For those of us who are not "full bottle" on Kenworths, what spec's make it a Gold Nugget.

Maitland Freight, working out of Maitland, SA, had a Gold Nugget and I am fairly sure they are still using it.

Hi Geoff, basically the badge on the dash and the sticker on the bonnet say's it's a Gold Nugget.

They came out as opposition to the Bicentennial Macks, so whatever do-dads that were available as extra's and ya wanted, then they had it.

Don't know if they were assembled any different than what normally went down the line, but they were the flashest KW's around back then.

G'Day Tacho (Geoff), a Gold Nugget Kenworth had a fridge, T/V, extra gauges and shiny bits as well as a custom build plate on the roof console and the decals on the side of the bonnett, i think you also got a coat/jacket not sure what else though. they were however before the Bicentenial Mack's as the Nuggets were all W Model or S.A.R. and they were last built in 1987 when the new T series Kenworth's were released.
