Just on the same subject (German buses/coaches) was it Firefly who were importing those custom built double decker highway coaches on their express runs? Don't recall the name/make, think it started with "K" and then a string of letters. Going back a little while, maybe late seventies/early eighties?

I can't answer Dave's question, but I may be able to ask it in a different forum.
Advancing through Freiburg (possibly a home city for the original photographer, as it has more than any other).
Escholzstrasse, Freiburg (Baden-Württemberg, Germany): Freiburger Verkhersbetriebe Mercedes O305 bus 35. Sat.29.8.87. (Roderick Smith collection).

I have a lot of answers re Kassbohrer Setra. I'll have to check, but I suspect posted in Modern Bus.

They were Setra Kassbohrers. Imported by Austral for Deluxe Coachlines. It was planned to assemble some in Brisbane from CKD kits, but Deluxe went under before it happened. Denning produced its own double Decker coach around the same time, which also eroded sales, and Deluxe took a lot of these. Then the market for interstate coach travel dried up due ti discount airfares.
