Does any one on here know the owner of Banana Coast Towing, he has a row of macks lined up along his fence line on the pacific highway. My son always bugs me to stop there so he can look at the trucks when we go past, Now he wants to go in and see them. I'm not one for just knocking on the door so thought id ask if ol' mate is an approachable person or doesn't like visitors

Thanks in advance

BigAl,

I must be like your son.

Every time I go past there I want to go in and look, but never do for the same reason as you.

I'll be going past in a couple of weeks, so if you get an answer pass it on.

In my experience, If you knock on the door, tell them you don't want to buy anything but just love the old trucks and would like to tack a few picks and learn a bit of history about them, you are invited in.
Blokes hate tyre kickers and BS artists.

Just a quick query on those Macks lined up behind the fence in Swishy's photos. How long has that particular bloke been there? I'm thinking of the mob who had a heap of similarly painted and decked out Macks up in the industrial area behind Archerfield (QLD) airport? Used to do a lot of long-distance, Heavy Haulage recovery and such.
I may be getting confused with some other mob.
Also, was a bloke up on the Newell years ago, had a heap of american (yank tanks) stacked up two and three high, with a big fence around. Was having breaky with another driver at the truck stop and remarked that I'd love to go down and have a stickybeak, and he told me, "Don't even go near the joint! I was looking for a few nuts and bolts one day just on dark and went up to his gate and yelled out to him. Told me if I didn't get off his property, he'd set the dogs on me!"

He's been there for a long time, I'm sure I remember them lined up on the fence when I first got my licence if not before then

Thanks Guys. The front entrance to Rocklea Carrying Co's looks vaguely familiar, was it just up the road from the wool stores at Archerfield? If it is the place I'm thinking of, may have had another name before Rocklea Carrying, either that or a different mob? Long time ago, for me anyway, wouldn' be betting me house on it. Dave_64

Me too, over the years, have always wondered why so many trucks lined up.
After all, plenty of work between CH and Grafton on the goat track
