Fuel Pump and Filters

May have already been covered, but I recall installing a simple, cheap after-market fuel filter (glass) which had a non-return valve in the base of it. Installed it either between tank and fuel pump, or fuel pump and carby. Bought from one of the big parts houses (Autopro, Repco or whatever), Cheap and easy to obtain and install.
Just a thought.

For a fuel pump to work properly, it needs to have a NR valve in the inlet side somewhere.. Even if you don't get run back, you will still get evaporation loss in the carby which you have to refill before it will start.
Older mechanical fuel pumps still have diaphragm problems because the rubbers don't like the additives in modern fuels. Goss in melbourne used to make repair kits for older pumps, but they are now out of this market.
Most pump manufacturers recommend the filter being on the the output side, as problems can occur if it starts to block up on the inlet side.
