I was driving back to our depot in Auckand yesterday with another driver and came across this Crusader parked beside the road with its 83-year-young driver tightening up some chains. We stopped to give him a hand if required and stayed talking for about an hour. He was on the way to a truck show in Auckland this weekend (to which I'm going tomorrow) and thought the rear truck on the trailer was moving a bit and getting too close to the front one. He stopped, undid the chains, moved the rear truck back a couple of inches and was redoing the chains when we arrived.
Stan Williamson, the 83-year-young guy, has owned this truck since new and ran a big fleet of Crusaders (about fifty, I think) on logging work. This particular one has now done 3,890,000 km and still has the same 8V71 engine which Stan recently fitted with a turbo "just to quieten it down a bit".

What a guy! Good on 'im.
Stan's son is also keen on his trucks. Here's a few pics of his yard:

Btw, good on you, Vic, for stopping to lend Stan a hand. Not many people do that these days.

Cam,
Me has one of the new members on here for help - buckwill from America!
I did have a bit of an issue with Buck regarding the ID of a Detroit engine - Model # 8067-7821 - ID me this engine without help, mate! I did it - I had help though!
I'd sooner the Crusader - British truck and American runnin' gear!

Cam,
Tell ya number by number - saves ya the trouble of finding someone who can do it!
8067-7821
8 = Series V92
06 = 6 cylinder
7 = Fan to flywheel Truck engine
7 = Basic Engine Arrangement
8 = Design Varitation, in this case Turbocharged Aftercooled
21 = Specific Model Number
So what this essentially means is this: Model # 8067-7821 is a 6V92TA!
