People here may be able to identify the vehicle from which this one was converted.
One poster has suggested Chevrolet, but not a year.

Thanks for that. I've been away for a week, and only now can pass the nomination along, together with a link back to your useful photo here.

The poster of the Bolivia one was very pleased to receive the identification, and the comparison photo.
Now one from me.
This is on the Tacna - Arica railway: originally all in Peru (built in the 1850s), then annexed by Chile (1870s or 80s), then half returned to Peru (1929).
The grille should be a giveaway for make/year.
There is a museum at Tacna, but I suspect that this one was still a working inspection vehicle when I photographed it. The whole railway was a living museum. I can see no provision for a crankhandle. Had it been reengined, with electric start?

Rod, that 1926 chev truck is the "Capitol" model, it was followed in 1927 by the "National" then in 1929 by the "International 6" . 1932 saw the "Confederate" prob. the nicest looking chev of all (in the early 30's)
