Hi,
Double Tank is close enough. It is the Border Downs road just south of Hawkers Gate between south of Camerons Corner and north of Silverton. Other side of the fence is South Australia.
The fence is The Dingo or Dog fence with the 'service road' running each side of it that is illegal to drive along, so this section of about 50 km or so of track is the only section as far as I know where a driveable road follows along the fence, any other points you cross through the fence.

My father had his LNT8000 up there a few times.... I drive past there all the time.. But to this day I've never been up there.
Yeah stick with Boags... Better than that horse piss from Hobart...
You might Laugh at me because I'm different, I laugh at you because you're all the same
Roderick Smith wrote: Terry has it: The road to Ben Lomond (Tas.). That section is known as Jacob's Ladder. We had driven it 2 days earlier to go skiing, and the weather was foggy and ferocious. We skipped, and returned 2 days later. Ben Lomond is the better of Tasmania's two ski areas. Mt Field (Derwent Valley) gets less snow and has only one ski tow.
Help yourself to a Boags (Launceston beer) rather than Cascade (Hobart beer).
Terry's turn.
Roderick.
