It is the Brankeet Creek arm. I doubt that the creek provided much of the water, that is the point to which the water backfills after the 1950s building of Eildon, which swamped the existing Sugarloaf (where the wall is still visible when the water is down). The main water comes from the Goulburn, Howqua and Delatite rivers. I have been over the railway bridge lhs (now a rail trail), and of course over the highway bridge (mainly when skiing at Mt Buller; sometimes aiming for Benalla & beyond). I have taken my boat under both bridges. With the water as low as in the quiz photo, I have explored the main street of old Bonnie Doon, and the fallen brick piers of the first railway bridge, and the first road bridge. I was stranded at the boat ramp once with a grass fire on the hill rhs; the road was closed, and I had to go by boat to the pub hidden by trees in this view for New Year's Eve. The helicopters were scooping water on the upstream side of the bridge, avoiding scooping boaters, waterskiers and fishing people. On high water it is just about possible to tie up a boat onto the terrace handrails of the pub.
