I supported the Charlotte Pass entry, having knocked the summit of Kosciuszko. I was there in summer, not winter. The view was mildly disappointing. That peak is on a ridge, and five other bumps along the ridge count in the list of Australia's tallest.
Snowgums give an altitude range of about 1600-1900 m: Australia does reach a height above snowgum level.
Fire-damaged snowgums recovering is a hint for Kosciuszko National Park, but not at the top.
My experience of that vegetation was at two ski resorts which I am not entering.
I have to stay with Mt Selwyn until it is knocked.

The view towards Sydney from Perisher/BlueCow, with Smiggins right of frame, and Guthega left of frame.

With that clue, I've just explored (and rejected) White Cliffs and Mungo National Park.
With that vegetation, I'll nominate WA, in an area exploited for mineral sands. Eneabba isn't that hilly, is too far north, and is near a highway.
Hence, somewhere north-west of Esperance.
