I'm not trying to line anything up. I too am going for Bendigo, notably Eaglehawk, where the single track became double for the final stretch.
The line was closed in 1972 or 73. Notice an original State Savings Bank sign.
That road was the Calder Hwy exit from Bendigo, but no highway users drove that way. Ravenswood - Marong as the bypass for the Calder, plus Bridgewater - Serpentine for the Loddon Valley.

Indeed a great period photo.
In history, City of Bendigo and Borough of Eaglehawk were separate municipalities, merged compulsorily in the 1990s, along with portions of surrounding shires.
The tram ride passed several surviving poppet heads, but I think that all were out of use by the 1960s. There is still mining under Bendigo, but coming in a long way from shafts on the fringe.
I have one stockpiled for when the next long gap occurs. I'll post it this evening.
Alas, my bottle of Eaglehawk Shiraz is empty; and I don't have a Water Wheel (Bridgewater) either, and I can't switch to non-alcoholic Castlemaine Rock, so something out of the region with lunch.
