hi all.
Going through the family photos as part of some genealogy work, this photo below was stumbled upon. We believe it is circa 1920s/1930s and may have been taken in the Korrumburra area. After a make and model information if anyone has it.

Galron,

Great photo. My guess would be very early 20's as I doubt people in the 30's would cop an outing in a solid tyred bus. The vehicle itself may even be earlier but the ladys' fashions indicate 20's.

Pity it does not have a badge. The radiator above the bonnet was a REO trademark for many years but they were by no means the only maker to have this style. The wheels may give a clue to smarter detectives than me.

Is it left hand drive? The bloke in front left seat looks like he has a uniform. They are on the right side of the road - was photo actually taken in USA or was the photo negative reversed?

it is possible that the negative was reversed. I guess its also possible its LH drive. I don't have the negative, only a mounted print. As i commented, the family believes it was taken in or near Korumburra, Victoria, as the family was living there in the period. The print may have something on the back of it, but not keen at this point to extract it from the mount as its likely been in it a while.

It is based on a very heavy (for the period) truck with the Charabanc body fitted probably by a local body builder.

Maybe the detectives can ignore the bus body and find the base truck?

Clearly this is an early model family amphibious vehicle. Lel

I'm with 'Lang': very early 1920s, possibly even 1919. The man's hat brings it back to the 1920s. I use fashions and clothing very much as a dating clue.

Here's sumthing - trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/4612392...=*ignore*%7C*ignore*

Edit - If doing trove searches try "Motor-bus"

...there were a few Day-Elders that went down into the Korrumburra/Leongatha district in the very early days....Brockways were also very popular down there as well....

....a very good dairying district that probably led to some wealthy enterprises.....
