Aha: FE to the right; I was looking to the left. I'd try Ford Mercury next, then it moves into more Holdens. On the street a Morris Minor is blocked by a Ford which I think predates the Prefect name; try Popular or Anglia (there was discussion in the recent Yarra Glen thread). Back to the left hand side of the road, I feel that the dark panel van is an Austin, based on the A40.

FC Holdens in this one. roland the ute behind the ford is one you can answer :-? :-? :-?

Looks like a Ford Consul ? Zephyr ? Zodiac to me...?

Vauxhall Utes ... ? We had a few based on the Viva HA van, but not many... It was a post production conversion by Walker. Badged as Bedford... Would suit DD ? :-)

Hi Mairjimmy and all .. please excuse me for the topic drift, but those mid 1950's Vauxhall utes were an Aussie invention....they used the rear guts of an FJ ute including the rear window, tailgate and load space framing and floor morphed onto the Vauxhall styling....

...pretty bloody clever i reckon. 8-) 8-) ...cheers

Hi Mairjimmy

No such animal in the UK as far as I know.

The Zephyr Ute was quite a brute of a beast !

The Grey Bedford looks a bit 'girlie' in comparison ?

Detective, This thread started where was the bus and it's been drifting ever since the bus vanished. :) :) Well I learnt something tonight that the Vauxhall utes were an off shoot of the FJ, knew it was a GMH product. Roland that's why there not over in the mother land.

Hi Mairjimmy, here's some pics of a couple of '57 utes here on the Isle of Wight recently, I put the Vauxhall Vagabond convertible in too as apparently they were both built on a Bedford CA chassis, whereas the cars here had unit construction

Well Done Grandad...

I had forgotten about the 'Velox'... and the Wyvern ?
must be my age... :-)
I am a Grandad too !

This does look very Holden'ish ?

I do remember them now, in fact a past neighbour had one which he parked next to his V8 Ford Pilot !

Sorry to drag the post even more off track :-)

Cheers

Hi Roland .. from memory the Wyvern was a four cylinder model with a side lift bonnet and the Velox was a six with an alligator hood style...

...pretty sure that was how it went ?? :-/
