lang i reckon you've nailed it with the pic of the blue ''early '36'' panel van. the rib along the bottom of the door carries through into the panel work that leads to the rear mudguard and from there it's a straight forward job to hack the bodywork down into the jigger that it's become.

impalabazz has probably nailed the wheel issue also...and managed to keep his head on his shoulders as well !! ;) :o ;D :) 8-)

ps lang that yellow suburban is a left hooker....straight forward USA job?

Once again, we seem to be there.
However, using USA & UK models as a guide could be misleading. How much was imported, and how much was up to Holden to design, and hence become a third variation?

Rod, there wasn't a great number of imported bodies in the vehicles of the 1930's. We had a very sizeable body-building industry, with a myriad of coachbuilder tradesmen, and the Govt was intent of protecting that industry, big-time.
Anything imported from America, that could be built here, was taxed heavily with high import duties. The exception was Commonwealth countries, particularly Britain, with whom we did substantial trade, and with whom we had "favoured trading partner" low tariffs.
