Is this? It's not the elusive LHD export Leader...

Mister T, I am pretty sure it isn't a Leader.
It's got an off set cab like a DM Mack.
The headlights look like CAV or some sort of pommie ones, and the park/indicator lights don't look American either.
Bit hard just guessing on the Mack body work, havn't got a side pic showing the axles etc have you.
I'd guess it's a Mack that has some local content where ever it was put together.

Tatra, I'm with Cam..... Not a Leader..

Leader used a Nissan cab for their Challenger...

A side on Picture might help..

BC it's about 1977 u model mack ,but the bonnet has had major surgery done to it ,1 the headlights are not correct ,the headlights have been lowered in the panel by about 6'' 2 the grill was never recessed into the bonnet like that ,that type of grille sat on it's own mount that was about 2'' high ,and the parker /indicator lamps look like they came from the dodgie bros cattledog steve

The mentioning of the Leader was for a laugh, it has of course no Aussie connections. No side photos I'm afraid but I assure you it does not have Mack axles - or chassis. Yes the bonnet is modified DM600. Cheers, T

Tatra, it is some sort of cross built thing, Mack Cab, air filter bonnet, fuel tanks and brackets, then looks like european axles, which are a little odd in that they are 285 PCD (American) instead of the usual 335 PCD (european), and it's a 6 x 2. I'd guess someone has cobbled it together and branded it their own with out actually manufacturing any components.

...as the second pic seems to show an offset cab etc. etc., there's a good chance it's one and the same truck...just different timeframes

OK chaps I'll come clean - all of you who said there was a mix of parts were spot on. This is an Israeli Ashdod E190, really a prototype and I don't think there were more than 2-3 built. It was a genuine attempt by Leyland/Mack Ashdod to create an Israeli truck, it used a Leyland chassis and rear axles but the front axle was off something else if Cam is right on the PCD (it does not look like a Leyland axle to me). The cab was a Mack DM cab (or shall I say, the standard Sheller-Globe offering used on Brockways too) and the bonnett was modified from the DM600 one with Leyland headlights and bits and pieces from other sources. I believe it had Mack mechanicals (engine/box). I have no idea whether there was an intention to offer other engines and boxes or to inject higher local content ultimately. Nor do I know why they dropped it. I think it might have worked but Israel itself was a small market so export would have been necessary. Instead they concentrated on assembling Macks until 1983 when the factory closed...

Cheers,

T
