I don't think there would have been any connection between the Swiss Martini company and De Martini trucks, Swishy, but I do stand to be corrected, if wrong. De Martini trucks were built in San Francisco from 1919 until the mid 1950s by George De Martini. De Martini trucks were popular as rubbish trucks with Californian municipalities and councils.

1951 De Martini refuse truck. From Classic Refuse Trucks, I hope they don't mind, this is kind of for educational purposes.

Re: the above pic of the DeMartini

This 1951 DeMartini truck was used by West Coast Salvage until the 1970s to collect paper and cardboard for recycling. The DeMartini Truck Company was founded in San Francisco in 1919. Its office and manufacturing facility were located at 457 Pacific Street. Owner George J. DeMartini saw the potential in building specialized trucks for local government services, such as garbage collection. The company made trucks at its plant in San Francisco until 1955, and Mr. DeMartini continued to supply parts for garbage trucks into the 1970s.

As far as I know Colin has all the mechanical parts for the truck he is working on the engine I think he had new con rods specially cast so a major job but he is good at restoring and knows his stuff . He will probably make all the body parts as there will be none to copy a long term project.
