I'd rather have tools that I don't need, than not have the tools I do need.

LOL
Yup az Grandad sez tiz a :
Cook Bros truck
Cook Brothers and equipment Inc,1950-1958 - Los Angeles California
Challenge-Cook Brothers Inc,1958 - c1964 Los Angeles California
Cook Brothers were a manufacturer which operated in Los Angeles from 1950 to 1964 and they started by introducing an experimental 8x8 military vehicle and making modifications to existing trucks.
Their first truck dates to 1950 and were intended for mineral and construction activities. Some were based on REOs which a different shell metal and REO or Ford V8 engines. There was a good assortment of construction vehicles and perfect to carry sand to bricks;a bottom feeder earth carrier, articulated was also offered and the one seen above - one cab cement truck - was their specialty and were powered by gasoline, diesel or propane engines.Special chassis for mobile cranes were developed as well. But they were mostly remembered for their Cement Trucks.
By 1958 they were acquired by Challenge which were builder of cement mixer equipment;hence there would be Cook Brothers chassis with Challenge Cement Mixer capabilities. However,Challenge would also add their Cement mixer equipment on another chassis so in order not create conflicts with dealers Cook abandoned truck manufacture by 1964 albeit is believed that some customs were made after that.
Single and double reduction, plus it was the last truck manufacturer to offer chain drive until the 1960's.
