You know, we just may be looking at a photo of one of those two long lost Peterbilts that were imported over by the French during the heydays of oil exploration in the Outback.
Seemingly disappeared off the face of the earth many years ago.
Urban myth or legend (or just downright B.S.) had one of them falling off a barge somewhere or other and sinking to the bottom and maybe still there?
Would have always liked to have known just what happened to them and my money is on the Wotzit being one of them). quite a bit written about the Pete's both here and other publications, but still not a great deal known about them, or where they ended up.
Few years ago, it was written that Laurie O'Neil, (he of the Peterbilt fame) flew in a private plane out in the middle of nowhere to get one of these going after doing a diff in or something like that.
This is one topic I would like to be a bit more informed about, think it makes great reading and you don't necessarily have to be a devotee of the marque to appreciate it.
Bit like those Mighty Antars, of the SMA, Vestry's Rottinoffs, the Rhodes Ridleys, very small numbers about bits of gear that helped shape Oz.

Werkhorse,
For those of us who may have missed the write up on the Pacifics, can you point us in the right direction please?
Sure to be a quite a few out there who are also keen to have a look.
Dave_64
P.S. Maybe we could also have someone do up a bit about the Hayes brand in Australia, i.e. Kevin Russell's old rigid. What about the old Biedermans?
