I'm sure many of you could have noticed that recently that the HCVC website and forum was down. This appears to be an issue at our service provider.

Going by the information I have it appears that the server we are currently on may be unreliable. I will attempt to see if we can get this changed. But for the short term we may have this reoccur. We will try and get this fixed!

Hi,

The hcvc.com.au website was hacked yesterday, Friday, and the service provider simply shut everything down until Shirley was contacted, which then involved contacting me.

The cracker used an old FrontPage hack and accessed the site via the old HCVC webpages and was selling Viagra and other medicines for the short time it was up.

I have deleted everything from the site except for the Forum and the CMS that runs the main part of www.hcvc.com.au . I have a back up copy of everything else that was on the site if you find there is a link to a photo or something that does not work.

It is possible the hack may have been able to track peoples Userid and passwords so it is recommended people change their Passwords for logging into the Forum and any emailid@hcvc.com.au they might have.

The APPLE password is now changed so you will need to contact Shirley for the new one to access the cpanel.

Terry

I don't have that problem, I manly use FreeBSD servers and one Centos one (That is locked down tight), I only have about 200 emails a min to deal with, 15 local users (Australia), 25 Voip channels, 2 remote fax systems, and do support for 4 other ISP in Australia.

The worst I see is a DOS attack once every 2 days, that my software fixes within 5 min.

All websites I host get checked every day for changes and hacker accessibility.

But that is the life of a ISP these days ;D
