John, in VIC it's a permit system and 25 years is OK.
In QLD it has to be 30 years old, minimum.

Cam is right and the use you plan for it is common and well within the definition of the scheme as long as you are not being paid for it

Having lived through a pandemic I now understand all the painting of fat people on couches!

I have a curly question. Can one get full rego on a rigid for work purposes but use it to pull a trailer with club rego for club purposes and not have to have prime mover rego, in Qld?

DD, in a word no.
Either you register it as a rigid, or you register it as a PM.
Same with the club rego.

John It get's curlier (if that's a word)
Ok My dodge a 4 tonner
GVM 7.6t approx.
Tare 3.0t Approx
= 4.6t load
Under club rego here in Qld allowed 1/2 GVM but must be loaded with something relating to your concessional rego. ie Historic tractor etc. Sounds great hey! NA sorry!
1/2 GVM =3.8t
Less tare 3.0t
= .8t
So with my Ransomes and esky I'm close to being overloaded
Why it couldn't be 1/2 the legal carrying capacity I don't know.
Here's another my Mack (concessional) 20.5t gvm
1/2 x GVM = 10.25t
So if hooked to a full rego tri can I gross 30.25 Maybe if mass management another tonne??

Can you post the actual wording of the Qld load rule.

Down here in NSW the rule is 2/3 of "load capacity". Remember, the gvm measure only came in around the late 60's so it is not relevant to most historic vehicles. Before that the manufacturer stated the load capacity and that is what the NSW rules go by.

Mammoth, Steve has posted exactly how the load rule is in Queensland.

Heavy vehicles over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass (GVM) registered under the Special Interest Vehicle Scheme are permitted to carry a load provided the loaded GVM or gross combination mass (GCM) does not exceed 50% of the maximum permitted mass for the vehicle configuration. This mass is based on the lesser of:

1 Individual Axle ratings;

2 Tyre Manufacturers limits;

3 Manufacturers GVM or GCM;

4 Regulation Mass Limits.

## The load carried must be in relation to or part of the reason for the vehicles use under the Special Interest Vehicle Scheme.
