Deadly,

The reason you cant see the members talk area unless you sign in is due to the forum wouldn't know that you are a member until you sign in! :-?

The members talk area is for members of the HCVC club only. Hence the login requirement.

Deadly,

Not sure I understand what you mean. Log on and sign on are generally the same thing!

You must logon for the system to know who you are.

Up to the point that you logon to the forum you are assumed to be a guest so you can only view public areas.

When you login you get the ability to participate in the public areas. And if you are a HCVC member you also get access to view and participate in the Club only area.

The club only area is invisible to all users of the forum EXCEPT for HCVC members.

Deadly,

I think we should keep it.

For example discussions about what the Club does and doesn't do with the website and the forum is really a discussions for the Club members.

The idea of the forum FAQ is for questions and answers. This questions about a private area for HCVC members should really be put into one of the locations within that area. Such as this!

The other point is the Display day section may need to be reworded. The idea of this is to give members that attend the display day but are unable to attend meetings to have an ability to give us feedback on how to improve the event. While there is no reason and should be encouraged for any one to give us feedback via the event chat page. There may be a requirement to keep certain items underwraps. Also the Display day section in the members area could also be used as a communication point for the organising group to get feedback or assistance from the members.

The main purpose of the forum is to establish better communications with our members and other like minded people in our community. But there will be times when items of a sensitive nature have to be kept within the membership. I'm certain you have already seen some of those communications that must be kept within the membership! I know you have activley participated in one such discussion that would not be of any benfit to people outside of the Club. ::)

Another thing that could be done is make another "secret" area for committee only discussions! Where only committee members can get into! Only limited by your imagination! 8-)
