I'm after a left door latch, handle and windscreen handle, along with left door hinges for an early 40's K series Bedford 40cwt. Any thoughts? Cheers, Tony.

Tony, you will find most parts will be interchangeable with " K, M, O, Bedfords.
England went to war from mid 1939 - 1945 so not many civilian trucks were made .
Some " K, M, O, Models were made for about 6 months before they went to war .
" K, M, O, models started again in 1945 and continued till 1953 so in other words there are plenty of them still around to find your parts in . Dave

You are after a windscreen handle, suggesting that yours has an opening screen. If so you have a pommy cab and not the more common Holden one. The dash and firewall will be the same but everything else about the cab will be different. Speak/email to the Bedford specialist Melbourne way and they probably know what fittings were common to both cabs. The hinges on the Holden cab are a prick to get out, even if only slightly rusty, but you probably already know that!

Thank you both. My error, its actually the door window winder that I need not the windscreen, sorry about that. I'm told that mine is a 42. It has the GMH badge attached so assume that it is Australian, or could be a later model, it did have the two bucket seats with a single back? Re the hinges, Ah yes, it still has the 3 right hand hinges attached to the door, only because the angle grinder presented the best option at the time! I have an option for parts here in Bendigo, which I have tried (still waiting), but any/all other options are gratefully received. Cheers, Tony.

Actually that should be 2 right hand hinges. Fat fingerts and little keys!. Cheers, Tony.

I too have a 48 M model Aust Cab. The window winders are the same a FJ holden and rare spares where in the process of doing a reproduction last time I spoke to them. For internal door handles go to Auto Surplus In Mitcham Vic. I found 2 there in a assortment of handles. they are different to most handles as they are approx 3/8 square drive at 45 degrees to the handle, cost me $30.Try contacting D Heintze on (08) 8565 6230 he is a bedford wrecker in Koonunga South Aust for any other parts or full trucks.
