Hi all.
I'm looking for a starter motor for my 318. The one I have is just plain worn out. It is an Australian made Bosch 3 bolt 1hp starter that I believe came out of a dodge. It is now in my D1310. I can't seem to find parts for it let alone find a replacement. Ideally a new reduction drive compatible with the 3 bolt would be great however I'm happy to get what I can at this point. All and any help appreciated.
Cheers
Lynden

Thanks Lang. I have looked on eBay I even purchased one that I returned due to it not fitting. All the starters I've seen on eBay are two bolt housings. These don't match up with the 3 bolt housing thats on my 318. The bosch part number for the original is 9 000-063-001. The 9 defines that it was Australian made and what I have found is That they stopped production of these in the 90's some time.

Tipp, it might help if you had your location in your profile, then we would know if our local blokes could be your local blokes.

If your starter is just worn surly can rebush it
Even if its burnt out you can get it rewound for not a huge amount
There isnt a lot in a starter and most parts can be rebuilt ft. Or not huge amounts

The main issue is the drive. All the rest can be done. Trying to find the drive is the one main thing stopping it from being rebuilt.

Take it to your local Ashdowns, try to find someone working there that isn't a countertard and they will probably be able to cross reference something that will suit, I'd recommend not trying to get it rebuilt, this sort of lark is rarely worth it unless it is for something like a one of one Bentley that nothing else is available for. There are multifit starters available with adjustable mountings if you know where to look.
