Hi,
Had a bit of a look on the net for someone who does small electric motor repairs.
Got two (2) "Lucas" windscreen wiper motors, centre roof mounted, the type that has two flexible cables out each side of it, with the "wormscrew" setups on either end.
Would say they were simple single speed with a "Park" position.
Used to be the odd bloke around who done them up. The way they are set up makes them a bit hard to duplicate. You can buy a Chinese knock off of the single point mounted type, new, but would be a pain to mount.
Thoughts??

Mini's used a similar wiper motor that also had the cable drive. Is it the motor that is stuffed or the mechanics?

If possible, find part number. If cannot, never mind.
SNG Barratt ( check spelling) UK or Austin Healey parts UK. Or, UK clubs.? You can also ring Barretts-used to be very helpful. All old Lucas UK rubbish- better to buy new & often available to look like old
Cheers
And Gryphon- can clearly light on. Keep up the good work

There was a fella, ex Lucas Australia, in Qld who sold all this old Lucas gear from home and swap meets. Haven't seen him for a few years.

Can you get it apart, the motor bushes or gearbox bushes are probably just seized and will free up

I agree with the Mrs, strip the electric motor, clean it up inside, lubricate the bushes at the end of the armature and clean the copper communtator up taking care to clean inbetween the segments. I needed replace the carbon brushes and it will run again. As for the stripped gears, I found a little man in China who sells gears like pinions gears of all sizes. I bought some from him when I made my thread chasing dial for the lathe. Cheap as chips and initially said he does not ship to Australia but ask a question and he does. All you will need is the OD, length and how many teeth.
