Cylinders got sent to WA, and Trevor ha shis finger on the (weak) pulse
However, there are plenty of other projects on the go so it's not exactly holding me up. Turns out that the radiator top and bottom tanks that I have (from the 7 tonner) are too wide to fit in the 5 tonner chassis so I will have to get some cast. Dismantling the seized steering pins (pre ball joint) and tie rod was a major exercise, but the king pins look like they will come out easier.

Has anyone else noticed that Onetracks photos on this thread have been replaced with spam??
It's all rather curious....

Don't think they are spam. I had noticed a while ago. My guess was that seeing as Onetrack deleted his pictures off Tinypic when someone uploaded a new pic with the same file name it replaced them and seeing as the link is to a URL if it has the same name that is what comes up, only a theory though.
I can go through and delete the links on the posts if you like.

I don't suppose there is any way Ron could be talked into finishing this journey, for old times sake even, I don't know
Ron apart from the forum ,nor do I know the reason he bailed, but if he were to finish it, maybe bygones will be bygones

Delay in getting the job done has no connection with the forum or why he bailed - he just likes to have fingers in a lot of pies. Like most of us it's a case of gett'n round tuit.

Hi All
Well ONETRACK is alive and well, as is the repair on mammoth cylinders. Put simply, by the time all the corrosion was removed, large areas were only .5mm thick not enough for a simple weld repair, so these areas were removed and metal replacements fabricated, jigs then had to be made to avoid warping when welding. There is also a fan hub so corroded to the front block it has resisted all attempts to be removed - all in all I'm glad it's Ron and not me.
Ron of course gave a much better and detailed explanation of the progress than I have done here.
And in true one-track style, he is keeping a photographic record of the repair so it can be understood on completion.
Cheers, Max

Glad to hear onetrack is still watching and it will be fantastic to see his craftsmanship in helping Mammoth restore the bits.
