Water pump for Commer/Karrier Slant 6 petrol

Hi guys,

Im back again after a long absence, I know I asked this before, but cant find the thread now.

Hank has a serious water leak, it appears to be coming from behind the water pump pulley, so Im assuming its the shaft seal that has gone. Its the only place that water is leaking from. He is now undriveable and its killing me. I need to get him fixed ASAP.

So Im either looking at a repair/rebuild or finding a replacement for it.

Would you guys know of where I could look to source a new/rebuilt water pump for a Commer/Karrier slant 6 petrol engine?

Or alternatively, if it can be rebuilt, is it an easy job, or are there businesses around that can do it?

Any help, suggestions or advice very gratefully accepted.

A bearing & seals supplier will quite often be able to supply bearings, oil seals and a pump seal, to fit old water pumps.
If it's modern enough to have a combined shaft and needle roller bearing, they can often supply them, too.

Hi Hank - I'm pretty sure that it was JDM Industries who re-manufactured my Dennis F1 water pump. They used the original casing, shaft and impellor, and re-machined everything to suit available standard bearings and seals. Not cheap though, it cost me $900 plus freight.

i find EBAY Uk has bits like this show up. There are lots of NOS parts around in UK but you never can tell when that particular part you need will show up. I'd suggest searching now just in case one is listed, then consider the reco if nothing at the moment. Even if get it reconditioned here it may be worth a search you can put in to search for you each day for that pump and other Commer petrol parts for spares as when they do come up I find they are often cheap even when you factor in postage.

I have to get mine done as well. i stripped it down as i though it may have just been the backing plate, wishful thinking on my part! the bearing seal is gone.

i am taking mine to a local engineering place on Monday to find out what it will cost to repair.

i will let you know what is involved and what the outcome is. they are good blokes and great at what they do, so here is hoping!!
