Hi I have a 1972 TK Beddy with brake problems. It has a clayton dewandre air over hydraulic type. The air servo side is working fine . The oil side will sometimes pump oil othertimes not and is Frequently getting stuck . I have pulled it completely apart and all the seals and valves seem okay. Has anyone got any suggestion on how to fix this or maybe have a manual. much appreciated.

oil will totally bugger the seals in the brake master and slave cylinders - you should be using brake fluid, same as a car.

Hi TK, Hyd brakes can be a pain, however, one of the most important steps is, trickle bleed the system before building up air pressure to the system. After installing a reco air booster to my old C, I probably used a couple of litres of fluid getting the air out of the lines before any pressure started to appear on the pedal. Go slow on the pumping action of the pedal, frequent rests to allow the master cyl to settle. Years ago I had a pressure tank engineered to force fluid into the master & down the lines to wheel cyls, particularly on the old bogie drive AS Inters back in the 60!s. 8-)

I can't seem to get any fluid to come out of the 2 nozzles on the back of the master cylinder

Did you get it sorted in the end?
Im guessing so, bit of a long shot this many years on, but can you remember what you did and where you got any parts for it?

I have a 1970 with the same problem, though I think i might have found at least part of the problem,
The pistons were sticking sometimes and not returning far enough to pick up more fluid.

And the dome shaped seals that act as valves on top of the master cylinder, at the bottom of the fluid reservoirs were knackered.
Im trying to find some, but in the meantime im experimenting with RTV and Hot Glue to make seals on the steel cup/piston thingo.
Both are rated as resistant to brake fluid and the original seals are only rubber against a surface, so im pretty hopeful it'll work well enough for me to move the truck a short distance to where I can work on it properly.
Failing those two adhesives, I'll glue o rings in the right places with super glue which is also brake fluid resistant and that should work for now.

They only need to hold enough pressure that the piston passes their port and builds pressure on the main piston seals which are in reasonably good condition but i will replace when possible.

Would love to hear about your TK if you see this, whether you still have it or not.

Cheers!!
