Don't know about that particular version, most had the Hillman 1725 4 cylinder, but some were released out here with the Perkins "499", had one of them many years ago, (engine, not the van).
Pretty asthmatic.

My father-in-law was the last of the old time grocers in East Kew (used to do home deliveries) He had a 1939 Chevrolet panel van up to 1967 and traded it on a Commer van. Should have kept the Chev! I drove it a few times and it made a Kombi feel almost sporty in the lateral stability department and that is a very light complement.. Both the early VW and the Commer were in a race to the bottom with their performance.

My Father used to buy ex-PMG Commer vans, repaint them and convert them into camper vans with elevating roofs.

A couple of my school mates stole on off our driveway and got as far as Casino where they went to park at the kerb, but because of the narrow track they hit the posts supporting the veranda of a Pub.

Got it back home patched it up and sold it.

I fitted dozens of roo bars to those old Commers and still have a 7/16 ring spanner cut in half to get at the sump bolts. Didn't own sockets then.

Dunlop truck radials had a massive failure rate at one time, and disappeared from the market.....they used to crack around the bead ,which was the wrap for the carcase pulling away......or so I was told.
