Really Gr8 job U B do n
My suggestion from me armchair
me guess U already kno
release pressure from the body bolts by loosen n
get a long jack like an acrow prop etc
pack the foot of the jack on floor of tub @ front drivers side
n head of jack push @ problem area top of tub wiff suitable packing
n a gentle pressure push the problem cnr out
n redo bolts 2 desired tension n release jack
U may have to jack further to allow for the cnr to spring back
But guess n U kno all the above
me jist think n out loud
LOL

Thanks Swishy, I will borrow my mates porta power and sort out the tailgate fitment over the weekend.
The lesson for me in this build is to bolt everything together a number of times before painting. It is incredible how much movement you get when various bits and pieces are added and removed as you go through the process of re-building these old girls. In this case I did a final fit and then sat the body on the chassis and all was good....the trouble started after I bolted things down.....

My mate is holidaying somewhere so I can't borrow his porta power so I went to plan 2 as you can see in the photo below
I removed the rear body to chassis spacers and pulled the body down to the chassis with the tailgate opening spread and the problem is now fixed
Except the doors don't line up with the door strikers any more which is expected with the amount I pulled the rear down. I will fix this when I finish fitting my hidden mechanical remote door release cable to each door (in case the remote control door release fails)

Fuel line, filter, hoses, clamps, nuts, bolts, screws and boxes.
Exhaust pipe.
Not that I'm an cynical untrusting paranoid scaredy cat. . . (love your work)
but
An elegant solution to a simple problem?
Murphy's Law, the KISS principal and Occam's Razor?
woofa.
Move the Filter?

just saying,

Ah well,

All them dangly out bits around the filter weren't a good look either.
