Sunshine (Melbourne, Vic.): An unidentified Bedford SB from an unidentified operator. Tues.20.2.1962. (Weston Langford).

This is a crop from a much larger train photo, with as much salvaging of the underexposure of that part of the frame which I could achieve.

The original is at < www.westonlangford.com/media/photos/101307.jpg >

760903F Dunedin (Otago, NZ): NZR Hino bus. (Roderick Smith). I don't know the model, year or body, or how many were in the fleet.
Just for fun: have the two cars behind it: Hillman (Hunter?) and Vanguard Phase III.

Roderick.

The first big Jap diesels I ever saw were in Hino busses, long before Jap trucks were common....I remember looking at one in the old Cannon Hill Bus Services yard ,at the same time they were still running Daimlers on school runs......Freighter Industries were the agents, and I assume they built the bodies.....Freighter-Lawton.

Travelled from Shoalwater Bay to Brisbane & return on 2 Hino " Rear Under " coaches in 1970.
24 Construction Squadron unit given a long weekend leave from work on the East - West road.
Well appointed, air bag suspension and quick on the highway. Luxury for us! Paul.

Not sure if it's a Hunter, Mk2 Cortina, or something else. NZ got a lot of pommy cars we didn't.

Jarrod.

With you on that being a Cortina, side looks like M KII but the grill/side lights look a little funny. May just be the pic.
Not sure on the Vanguard bit either, similar but the Bumper is different, the centre bar does not appear to wrap around the guard and the windscreen top is higher than the door glass. the pic's I have seen of the III they are the same height. The bonnet badge appears to be different as well.
Cheers Steve

I'd suggest Blue car on left, Hunter, Cortina and Vanguard.

1957 City of Camberwell bookmobile, interior. IIRC this was from the City of Boroondara website. I have some research notes from a bus group, but can't find them. From memory, Ansair body. The photo may have been a publicity one from launching day. We came to Balwyn in 1958, and used the bookmobile on its visit there.
1970s Camberwell-Waverley bookmobile, exterior. This is the same vehicle, with new deployment, By then, Camberwell had built northern (Balwyn) and southern (Ashburton) libraries, adding to the original central (Camberwell) and Canterbury branch.

Roderick.
