By coincidence, I saw a tram slide at a club night tonight, with a Morris 1100 in the scene. My thought: that photo which I posted today has one of them. The grille and the headlamps look right. If so, it must have been for crew transport.

I think that we are homing in fast. I had thought of the Austin 1800 (predecessor of the Kimberley), but had forgotten that a ute version existed. I'll have to keep hunting via aviation people: they will know what TAA bought, and why.

Datsun 1200?

Or even a Mini, possibly the van version?

Headlights don't look right for 1800.

The mini had a shorter bonnet (small transverse engine), and the front wheel closer to the doors. Definitely BMC/British Leyland though, complete with Lucas lights 8-)

I hadn't thought that the airport ones would be so tricky; they are small crops from larger pictures, so lack sharpness. I was impressed with the Lucas lights recognition: the sort of detail which I wouldn't detect.
I have now placed the link with the yahoo aviation group oz-spotters. I guess that TAA had fleets of each type, and one of the aviators could well have worked with them. Enclosed today are the other two crops from the same vantage point: a telephoto view of Qantas B707 VH-EBU, and so revealing the vehicles on the far side. In the closer view, people might agree on the TAA one being a Thames Trader, not a second BMC. What is the base of the stairway? In the other VW Kombi is easy. Even Ford is easy, but which model?

The white "van" is a Ford Thames Trader.

The 3 wheeler above could be a Taylor Dunn.

Nothing special as a truck; nothing special as a photo, but the photo came by while I was doing something else, and I didn't have to hunt. The glaring early-morning light has destroyed a vital clue: is that bonnet rounded (hinting at a common Bedford model), or is it slanted (hinting at a common Dodge model)?
