Considering it was 1950s, and he looks to be over 30, if he didn’t make it there, Father Time got him anyway.

Ararat (Vic.): VR truck. Sat.23.10.76. (Roderick Smith)
That just has to be a 1957-65 Ford Thames Trader.
VR used these to take spare parts and supplies to country depots, and to work sites.

In the first video, I didn't recognise the large marina: Patterson Lakes?
The truck went over Centenary Bridge at Port Melbourne, now demolished.
Did this predate West Gate Bridge? Since you had to go under tram wires, was there a wiggle available via Siddeley St to avoid going under Flinders St Viaduct?
The tram wires at the intersection of Spencer St and Flinders St can be cranked up, but I can't see that that helps anything, as any vehicle requiring that wouldn't get under the viaduct.
I have just hunted in vain for a newspaper article when the wires were cranked up to clear a truck carrying an animal from Melbourne zoo to Werribee zoo.
In the second video, the mill and pine trees hint that the level crossing was on the Long Island branch, which forks as it gets near the mill.
