this is one of the three v1271 powered k100's morgan operated, this one I believe had only one or two drivers in it the whole service time with morgan simon.they were originally purchased to do extendable loads towoomba-mt isa,but ended up on the towoomba - Darwin road train run.

Tell you what swish,I don't understand why Morgan would have ordered such a plain spec truck with a big engine, then derate it.it really defeats the purpose, leaves me scratching my head how he would justify the cost of ordering the truck with those squirters in it.60's? Please,375 hphp he must have specced it on the sweet noise alone.,ill tell you what mate, when they're put back together, they will haveat least 90's in them!

Simons have always thought & operated "outside the Box"
Even today all their Single & B double Fleet are speed limited to 90kmh.

don't matter." -

...around this era McFies purchased their two cabovers with 12V71 power to carry out an "intended" operation of linehaul doubles complete with a standard dolly set-up...

...of course, that situation was never allowed to be, and with that these "legendary" jiggers were reduced to being an anomaly on our normal, everyday Australian highways......

Hello hayseed
Morgan Simon was a very very smart operator, 90 km per hour happens to be the cut off point between operating costs for the machine V's time. The basic understanding can often be augured cost per hour for the machine or the cost per hour for the driver, drive faster save on wages or drive slower save on the gear.
Like i said earlier Morgan simon was a very smart operator, you take it easy and you win on both counts driver first not being pushed to meet a ETA, truck second still in one piece and ready for the next job.
But as my mate Swishy say's Wot would I know (is that how he say's it ?)
