later some trucks came with a parcel shelf Bhind driver eg: White 3000
some day cab COE kenworths were fitted with a specially made pipe framed mesh like a farmers gate that folded down from the rear wall to act as a bed
then the authorities made it a set size to be classed as a sleeper

Some Accos had a fold down seat/bed option too

I'd rather have tools that I don't need, than not have the tools I do need.

Got a mate with the Same (sister) butter box ACCO as mine... they used to run together.... anyway his is a flash one, it has a "bed" I cant remember if canvas or mesh but a frame is stored along the back wall of the cab, and when it is time for a kip, fold seats forward and flat, the frame a bit like a stretcher (must be canvas) hangs off the back wall... and a good nights sleep is undertaken. I am guessing the ACCO was one of the few trucks in its day with such a wide cab..... and no, I don't have a pickcha.... yet. :S

Used to drive a Mercedes 338 for a bloke from Beenleigh Qld in the late 60's ,and it had a canvas stretcher type thingo bolted to the back of the cab,and it used to unroll and hook to the door pillars. It was a mongrel of a thing to get in and out of and I only ever used it once, and that was out the front of Breadalbane Pub !+
(maybe if I had tried it out anywhere else,it may have been easier !!!!)
