Re: FODEN

Needs no explanation. The dream of many an earlier operator. Got the lot, homemade mudflaps on the steer, step tanks, sun visor, note the mechanical hand. Taken at Charlestown near Newcastle NSW.

TNT subbies, Knocker and AEC at Yass roadhouse. Notice the small left hand circular mirror on the AEC.

Part of the old Pacific hwy, now abandoned. Another casualty of the freeway was the famous "Oak milk bar", home of the creamiest milk shakes ever.( Not the one at Hexham), the one at Peats ridge near Calga had an atmosphere all on its own).

That's about the lot. There are 4 more that I have put up before on other posts on this forum, but i'll put them up again on Monday hopefully.

The 2nd one is a mk lll model (Mandator or Mammoth Major) with the later "tin front" replacing the previously exposed radiator. Both with Hasting Deering cabs built onto the factory cowling.

Sorry about the delay posting these last four pics. Been Sidetracked. These have been posted by me before, but here goes. These 4 trucks (3 actually as the 2 Commer pics are the same truck, were all owned by my old friend, now 91, and unfortunately in a nursing home in Burpengary Qld). The first is on the piggyback going across the paddock, then in Alltrans livery with their trailer, in Tennyson St. Parramatta . The Dodge Power Giant, loaded with Kellogs, taken at Seymour Vic., this was my first trip interstate in a truck, when I was 13 years old. The last pic is an AEC Mandator that he owned while subbying for R.H. O'regan, ( which obviously didn't work out too well as he has painted their name out). Photo was obviously taken in 1960, as witnessed by the brand new in Australia, Ford Falcons. Photo was taken in Isabella St Parramatta, ( yes I rode my bike from Mays Hill to Parramatta regularly), especially when I started my apprenticeship in Grose St. Parramatta a few years later at the Hudson / Packard / Rambler dealership.

The A.E.C. Mandator on Page 2 does have a hand signal fitted. If you look above and to the front of the drivers door, you will see a shadow, which is a small hand. Almost the same as the old Bedford School Buses used to have.
Come forward to the latest photo of an A.E.C. and you will see it much clearer.

....Goodmorning Overnite, good to see your still on 'channel'. Thank you for taking the time to post & share these wonderful photos. Pick up that shoebox you got em in & shake it upside down...might be couple more in it...
. You must of done as many miles on your 'Speedwell' as you did interstate...
. Those Falcons look straight out of "Division 4"...
. I know where the 'hubcaps' are...
. See you on the return,be a pleasure to shout you a "milkshake" one day....
. Cheers, Giddy.
Giddy, thanks, I don't think there's anymore, but if I find any, they'll be here. I do have an old business card of the friend that owned the Commer, Dodge and AEC, if i find it ( after all its only 55 years old),I'll post it here. I'll take you up on the milkshake, my favourite back in the day was chocolate malted with an egg, and a glass of Pepsi, alternating between the two. Sorry if I just made you ill, but it worked for me.
