Greetings. The G89 was a JC & DC Hudson from West Wyalong, the Road Commander was Sturt Freight Lines and the Kenworth of W & J Scott from Wodonga were both taken in 1975 and the Goldhill Macks were taken in Nuri by the small park by the Para River with the steam train in it- across the road from Bob Sampson's servo if you are familiar with Nuriootpa. Wouldn't be able to park there today as NO trucks are permitted to travel through Nuri main street. I'll be back

6x2 the drivers steps into the cab have been removed and the fuel tank moved forward . Climbing in and out of a G88 or G89 Volvo was difficult even with the steps provided, Hudsons driver would have made good use of the fuel tank as a step. In the 70'sI climbed out of a G88 Volvo and my wedding ring got caught on the grab handle , the ring ended up very distorted and that was the last day I wore a wedding ring while I was a truck mechanic. PS still married to the same woman and wearing my wedding ring.

Those early G89's werent a bad jogger to drive, from memory about 330 Euro hp, 16 speed box, had 'em on linehaul for a while, pretty reliable Except for a bad habit of cracking injector lines.

I was in Willow tree late one night, stopped for a quick pick me up , and a guy had climbed on the side of a trailer with 3 decks of sheep, because on the 2nd deck a sheep’s leg was poking out so he pushed it back in and then jumped backwards to the ground. Unfortunately his wedding ring got stuck in the combing, and the ring and the flesh of his finger stayed on the second deck, with only the bone left on his wedding ring finger. Not pretty.

I point Blank refuse to wear a Wedding (or any other type of) Ring, for this very reason...

I just point blank refuse to wear a wedding ring.

How would those used car dealers with a heavy gold neck chain go jumping down from a truck?

I don't either, except on rare formal occasions.

Not to be getting sidetracked, but when I was still spliced, I too didn't wear the rings on the fingers.

Found that the brass one through the nose was enough for She -who-must - be - obeyed!
