Billy I don't know if their tactic was to fire and turn away, thus the engine sound wouldn't be heard, until too late ??
In 90 we were sailing to Island Head Creek not knowing there were war games around the corner in Shoalwater Bay.
Navy jets appeared at mast height then flew either straight up or banked left or right as they released their bomb.
A helicopter had flown over us earlier with a big sign saying not to look at the bomb or the planes as they were using lasers, but of course we did.
Those bombs just flew straight on and eventually hit the target with a big cloud of dust by which time the jets were long gone off the horizon looking for the carrier.
Bloody pilots had a great time low flying right at us, noise was deafening and man they were low, talk about counting rivets.
