Here is a link to the Museum of Arts and Science about Arthur Gillot Transport. A good read.

There is a very good photo collection that goes with it but I am not sure if we have had them up as a group before. Could someone tell me and if not previously seen I will try to upload.

No answer to Gillott photos. Does not matter as they are worth another look. Several companies such as Gillott, Highway Haulage, St Ives buses etc all owned by the Gillott family from 1935.

I know they loved Fodens, but what is the truck at the rear behind #10 in photo #8, with the slab fronted radiator and the big V on it. Vulcan perhaps?

They must have reused numbers on their trucks. Most companies would just keep adding to make it look like they had 1,000 in their fleet.

No 10 on an eight wheeler and No 10 on a 6 wheeler.

As a kid I lived in Gillot Territory.

His trucks were always clean and looked the goods.

I haven't seen one in the last 10 years or so but still live in Glilot Territory.

I think it influenced me in my later years as I won't use a traddie with a dirty ute or truck.
