Their web site still says "12-14 rabbit skins to make a hat"
They are still making thousands of Akubras - where are the skins coming from? Maybe they are getting them from the new breed Oryctolagus Cuniculus Polyesterus.
Just found out.

Does this mean that when Aussies are talking through their hat they now do so with a Ukrainian accent?

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

I think the name Lang wrote translates to polyester (plastic) pet rabbit.
Why not, the Americans have had Naughhide (They spell it something like that but it does not look right) plastic leather replacement for years.

As Swishy's movies show that is what happens when you mess with nature. The devastation was unbelievable and on a scale that rivaled the destruction of the green Sahara by goats a couple of thousand years ago. In the 30's the USA had their dustbowl destruction caused mainly by unfettered tree clearing and ploughing mixed with drought while at the same time Australia had the same thing but instead of drought removing the growth by the rabbits did the job.
They were eventually controlled by disease (biological warfare)
Today they can still be seen often in southern states and even can be kept as pets in NSW but over the border in Queensland it is a $100,000 fine to keep rabbits.

Is it just me or what?
I watched your movies and in the second one I was once again attacked by a little girl completely incapable of speaking her native tongue. This one had an American accent but a huge percentage of Australian girls speak the same secret language. They speak with their mouths closed, out of the back of their throat through their noses very fast, clipping every word.
These tw... twits are even undertaking careers such as law that require the ability to communicate at least to 50% of those listening. FFS I saw a young Green candidate in the last election a classic example of a combination of incomprehensible speech coupled with incomprehensible policies.
We are even starting to see these bimbos doing completely unintelligible TV ads - must be the bosses daughter?
Aah, i feel better now!
