Perkins option in c1600?

More

Was talking to mechanic about brown slips (NSW when rego out by more than 3 months) if I decided to put a bit more time into Bessie. It seemed quite reasonable except for the motor. Can anyone tell me whether the Perkins 6.354 was an option from factory on the C1600? If not, a brown slip might mean it has to be engineered.

Thanks.

There was always a Perkins option in Inter 160s,right back to the AR with a P6.....the C lines would have been a CD 1600 and 1640,with the small Eaton 2 speed diff.......Simplest way IMHO ,is say nothing about it ,...I just used to apply for a change of engine number,no one at the Main Roads ever noticed....I had to blue plate my 1300,cause the scalies picked it up........edit......just had a look in the parts book.....could even get a CD 1500 and 1510....diff must have been a bit fragile.

If you stick a 354 Perk in your truck ,dont use the 11" clutch ,it will slip,.....use a 12"......You may want to find a T34 box with overdrive ,otherwise the 1600 with a Perk is a 50mph/80kph truck...and running the motor at 2800 gets annoying pretty quick, unless your pulling a semi.
