Yes, it is a bit of a mystery! The grille has been butchered at some stage, I guess to add aircon. Although the ID plate indicates 53 which would be an FV I think it's actually a 54 chassis cab which is an FE. I believe this is how the grille should look:

Pretty sure that the Morris has the horizontal grille whereas the Austin badged version of the same chassis has the vertical grille as shown in your pic.

I think yours is a later Model as it is fitted with webbed front hubs and the front grille resembles a Series 3 Austin. Probably around 1956.
