With the almost 9 litre engine with turbo it should make its own wind and not be bothered by a head wind. It certainly is a ripper of a vehicle and that gearbox should be good once you are used to it.
It sounds as if the owner is a genuine sort of bloke doing this extra work for you even though it is now sold, not many like that now.

Hi Lang, after posting yesterday about the F7. I raked out all me albums and found these of the fleet of F7s we ran on long distance work , nice truck but a little under powered and the seating position if you where anywhere near 6 foot you suffered from a crick in the neck as the seating position an low screen you had to duck sometimes to see where you where heading

Just found out something interesting.

The French word MAQUE means "shared or partnered with"

With the Renault/Mack partnership I am thinking of getting some chrome letters for my truck.

I think that is what Peter, Paul and Mary were saying when they sang:

"Take me for a ride in your Maque truck.
Take me for a ride in your truck, Mack.
Take me for a ride, take me for a ride,
Take me for a ride in your Maque truck...Mack"

Picking up the truck on weekend.

Found this video and the French driver makes it look pretty easy. Quite clear how to get from high to low.

If he drives like that with one hand on the wheel and the other on the stick, how the hell does he hold his phone? Just kidding.

Picked up the MacRenault today and was pleasantly surprised.

Two generations on from the old Commer really makes a difference. It goes like a rocket and shot straight to 100 entering the highway with heaps of power still available. 1,800rpm at 100kmh in overdrive. The gearbox H/L range operation is a no-brainer and worked good right from the start.

Whipped into my yard with the nose up to the shed to back it around the side. Can't get the bloody thing into reverse. Will have to pull it away from the door with the ute so I can tilt the cab. All the extra linkages to make it right hand drive are so sloppy it will not go across into the gate. A job for next week.

Pretty happy with comfort, quietness and particularly performance.

Those wind scoops on the front corners in some of those vehicles pictured above are purely decoration, they go nowhere.

Easily as nice to drive as my old F86 Volvo but with so much more go. Might be something for Swishy to consider if he wants a lighter truck.

Good to hear, Lang! Pretty sure thats what it is going by way you describe it. Bit of wear in the linkages you would swear your stirring a tub full of porridge!
