Yes

They are a bit of a mystery as the air just blows down the side of the door. I have a suspicion that they were a fashion item for the period like fins on cars. I know the Mitsubishi Canters had similar scoops in the same place.

We were told by a volvo sales bloke at the time,, that the air deflectors on the corners of the cabs create a flow of air along the side of cab to keep the up spray from the road from fouling the mirrors ,and a lot of drivers who drove trucks of an earlier age that did not have them fitted as manufactured component made their own and afterwards found that it did make a difference,.

Thanks for that Husky

Really only of interest to poms and Victorians as the rest of Australia has weather fit for human habitation.

Leyland Australia fitted deflectors to the imported egromatic cabs. Even though those cabs had a very bad reputation for dirty side glass in Britain they were never fitted there. Most modern (ie excluding yank) big cab over highway trucks have them it is just that the design is so integrated into front panel design that they are not noticed.

My White 7500 has them. I have always assumed they were owner - made.
