Yeah, going to put some matting down to try and keep some of the engine heat out of the cab, but unless global warming hurry’s up 23 degrees is still a hot summers day in tassie so not too bad. Ha ha.

Makes sense to me, must be a harsh ride with 3T springs and no load. Is your truck a 3T? I believe 359 should mean 30CWT (3000lbs ~ 1.5T) and 159" wheel base? Would be interested in what your rear springs look like. If my truck is a 3T (FG6-59?) instead of a 3-59 I will consider doing the same.

Hello there. Thinking I will never cart 3 tonne on tray so I am playing with the idea of getting some leafs taken out of the spring packs to both lower her a bit and make her a little bit nicer to ride in. I don’t have the tools to really do it safely so I will take it to a work shop but is this a silly idea, will it make much of a difference?

Generally taking leaves out causes problems .......its simpler to trim a bit of each end of each leaf, and have the last one or two as spacers.......this keeps the level and U bolt threads where they were.

Hi there, sorry but I really know much about the model and codes, I am only going off the build plate that has the gvm at 5.6 tonne once converted to tonne of course and my tare weight is 2.601.
I will talk to the local truck spring workshop and she what they can do, I won’t mind if it’s a bit lower but I don’t want to take too much away from the look or feel of the truck cos I like knowing that’s how it was when it was a full time working farm truck. I love the old school harsh ness and smells and sounds.

Hi all. Still lovin reading and looking at all the different stories and questions posted in this club. Sorry I haven’t posted anything for ages but I haven’t been doing much with my truck other then driving it every weekend. But I have had fuel gauge problems, the original gauge used to work perfectly then I noticed it started to jump around a bit while driving for a few weeks then it just started to show full all the time. I took the sender unit out and gave it a little clean a bit of wd40 but that didn’t seam to help. It’s finally started to rain down here just as I start holidays so I have been in her every day doing tip and greenwaste loads and carting rocks and the gauge is now starting to work again, the only thing that’s changed is it’s raining so not sure if I have a poor earth and the water is helping?????????
Also, happy to hear any engine options that would be good for the old girl as I will ether need to rebuild the old flat head 6 or change to something else as ether way I am thinking I won’t get much change from $10000 ether way. I do like the flat head but parts might be hard to find for the rebuild and she is thirsty! Thank you all.
