Great Start to the Year
Haul a 1960 Dodge to its new owner, he's a car guy but wants to restore this back to original to haul his car(s)
After 2 weeks of sitting she fired right up and drove onto my tray..... Then rolled straight back off again... No brakes... Didn't realise (I was guiding not driving)
Rectified that quick smart and we were off
At his shed it all went well with some great use of the clutch (engine off) to roll it off and park it beside his "was to be" project that has a stuffed chassis.
Told him about you crazy lot here, as he knows nothing about old trucks, said he's game to sign up and meet you mad buggas.... So here's hoping he comes along soon.
It's a 1960 V8... Didn't really have time to grab its details but I'm hoping to help him with tech info once I know what he's looking for
Cheers
Werk

I hope he does join the forum so we can see pictures of progress with the restoration. There are not many of these restored and it will be great to see it at displays.
I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

Most certainly Ted
This is the "FV" Mitsubishi that I was using for the Dodge
But that's only 1 of 3 and a half that we have here at work
The "Mitsi" 8x4... Big thumping V8
And the "Fighter"
With it's .5 attached... Which also tilts

Morris wrote: Werkhorse, It looks like a very straight and nice Dodge/De Soto with the Pilothouse cab. No handbrake either? probably a drum on the tailshaft. What my Father always called a Cardan Shaft Brake. Possibly the owner was not ready and did not react quickly enough.

I think the handbrake had minimal hold... She did a mean burn out when Thommo dropped the clutch to stop it :woohoo:
I think he'll get here eventually... I think he's giving it a good look over first

Not real sure but 12-14T wouldn't be far off me thinks... The FV takes 11T, the Fighter takes 4T and the trailer about 3.5T
