Diamond Reo cab over was created by Tambox
I was wondering if anybody in this group could assist me.
I have a family owned, one owner, Diamond Reo, cab over prime mover to sell.
It been parked for about 15 years, so its weathered, it gets started every few years, but not moved, a brake is stuck on.
How do I find out its value.
Could anybody suggest who would be interested in it?
Located East Gippsland.

Tambox,
I reckon that is a rare and unusual truck- there is probably a bazillion people who would like it. (not so sure if there is a bazillion people who would pay for it?)
Put some photos up if you can, I'm sure someone will inbox you. I'd love to have a look at it just for interests sake.
I really think it's almost impossible to value things without clarity on what it is, it sounds like it would be a terrific truck, but what can you compare it to, for a valuation? And everyone certainly has a very different idea of what is good / bad /cheap/dear and so on..
And I honestly think that you could almost name your price- if you want to wait. If you want to sell it in a hurry, then you need to get the price down to where the phone starts ringing.
As an example that MAY assist, on Bookface there is what appears to be a very tidy, genuine and original Flintstone Mack, with a tipping tray on it, in NSW- They are asking for ideas of value, with a figure of $30K as a guide. no one has bought it yet, but surely it should be worth around there somewhere. For a quicker sale, if they got the price down to low $20's, the truck should fly out the door (says me, anyway). Under $20K would be a gift, but that is or course, if you want a Flintstone Mack!
Not sure if this helps you or not, but I am certain we would all love to see your truck, and someone just may make you an offer if you put it on the for sale section.
Good luck with it and don't hesitate to ask questions- I've found this forum to be a great source of information.
Cheers
Rich

Definitely photos! Also brief summation of specs,(running gear),e.g. what engine, rated at, transmission, diffs, suspension, that will give buyers a bit of a lead on just what you have . Dave

Will photo when washed.
Motor is 8V71, I was told is was replaced very few miles ago, as the old motor got cooked.
Dual speed diff set up, I think, lots of gears, sorry no expert on trucks.
Where would be the best place to advertise it, it rough, slight cabin damage on one corner, it would need to be restored. Air hoses and electrics need work.
Not really something I could advertise in a truck sales site, more collector/ restorer.
So I guess this forum would be one place.
Thanks Greg

At the back of a buyers mind is what it would cost to put back on the road and reliable with half decent tyres. Gumtree is a web advertising platform that gets a lot of lookers and then word spreads. Vintage Trucks & Commercials Magazine has a specialist readership which is your target.

I will be in East Gippsland in a week or two or maybe 3

Anyway if its of any use I would be happy to come and have a look and get some more details for you so you know exactly what you have got

I'm not interested in it but as prodrive has said you should get plenty of people wanting it

Off the top of my head: Check with Murray Langford in Mt Gambler SA. I do not know what type of organization the late Ian Lee left behind when he passed? Both men are/were Diamond T people and might be able to give you a ball park estimate and/or know of someone who would be interested?
As Dave 64 said see if you can find an older person in a local truck garage to look at it and give you the drive train specs. And definitely some pictures!!!
Then post some ads with pictures on several of the antique/historical truck sites. Including Big Mack Trucks, ATHS, and ATCA. Even tho these are Stateside websites they are read worldwide!!! I do not know if the ATHS Australian chapter has a website or Facebook page?? Contact ATHS RVP Ian Watson at boldcon@bigpond.com and he should be able to provide more info and possibly some contacts

The details off the tags inside the cab (over the passenger's door?) would give an idea, too.
