Trucking 1950's Australia

My grandfather went thru WW1,he was Scottish ,and no one could understand a word he said.

I could ask a thousand questions about trucking back in the day. I've seen a lot of old photos from the 1950's of White's (Mustang or Super Power?), Diamond T's, Federal's etc. I take it these had petrol engines, probably offering better performance than the old British diesels but also pretty thirsty as a con.

Later than the 50s,but I knew a owner driver who had a Federal Styliner .....looked like a big FJ ute,but had clever swing up front guards......anyhoo,I helped him replace the flathead six with a Perkins 354......I think the motor was a Continental ,they were a pretty good motr..........anyhoo,he used to bring six Falcons to Brisbane every week from Ford Geelong.......when the Louisvilles came out,he had to buy one or stop carting fords.....he stopped.

There were a lot of 50s Whites still around in the 60s with the White 386 flathead...........the more modern Whites had the OHV motor
