Hi,

I came across this picture looking at some history around Rob Roy Hill Climb that shows the PBR Shoes built for the Templestowe Hill climb at the PBR factory when they were first built. Surprised by how big the crane is relative to the size of the truck and wondered how it would have been transported around.

Driven around with a bit of red rag tied on the end of the boom.....people used to drive mobile cranes without taking down 40ft booms ........Incidentally,the truck ....is it a 4x4 Mack?

I thought the same thing, John..

I'm also surprised It doesn't have a BIGGER counterweight on the Front than It does..

Hi,

I couldn't find any more pictures of this particular unit but some other larger units from the same company have already been discussed here, www.hcvc.com.au/forum/oldjunk/15558-clarke-mobile-cranes

The shoes standing up are 32' so this would be a 40' boom and hanging out the back of a short wheel base while travelling it must ave taken out a few lanes of traffic or buildings whenever it made a 90 degree turn.
