I can't remember the Pomy name for style of truck
twin steer single drive, really short wheel base
I guess they are what we call a Chinese 6, only shorter
as far as I know there was only 2 of these cabs bought into Australia
over in Western Australia two were made with a bonnet based on these cabs
I think both actually exist today in wreckers yards and the like

The bonneted ones used the Motor Panels cabs. When fitted with the shallow radiator panel they were known as the S40, and with the extended forwards version to suit some Cummins engines they were the S41. Being of steel construction they suffered badly from corrosion.

A lot of people do not know Gascoyne Trading was started by Charles Kingsford Smith and his flying mate Keith Anderson before they both became world famous pilots.
Sadly in 1929 Anderson, a WW1 fighter Ace, and another of their WW1 flying mates Hitchcock, died in the desert while searching for Kingsford Smith who had disappeared and crash landed on the NW Coast in the "Southern Cross". Andersons aircraft "The Kookaburra" was abandoned after the bodies had been recovered. Dick Smith organised a search about 30 years ago and found the Westland Widgeon, recovered it and it can now be seen in the Alice Springs Air Museum.
Gascoyne Trading Company (GTC) was a transport company in Western Australia. It was established in 1924 by Keith Anderson and Charles Kingsford Smith in Carnarvon. One of its early contracts was the mail run through the Gascoyne to Meekatharra. It expanded to serve industries between Perth and the Pilbara.
