The OB was a normal control chassis so I think these were the SB model with same underpinnings as the S series trucks and featuring the 'big' 300ci petrol engine.
pretty ugly in my book.

Thanks Lang, I stand corrected. The Bedford SB wasn't introduced until late 1950 so GMH obviously ahead of their time. Wondering if they made the transition to a similar looking SB or kept with the old OB chassis.
I had a ride in an OB in rural Wales when they were still in service - lovely ride and because of the very windy roads the steady pace wasn't such an issue.

The OB was based on the O series truck ... We (Australia) had the only forward control versions ... All built on the standard OB bonneted chassis
The SB was based on the S model truck chassis ... All were forward control ... Even in the UK.
There were 2 "versions of the original standard SB here ... The original had flat windscreen with corner glass from first until 1957 ... From 1957 to 1959 they used a curved windscreen.
The SB chassis went on to be bodied by many other body manufacturers ... Easily spotted by the forward set front axle where as the next model was the VA series with set back front axle.
I could write at least 30 pages explaining the minute differences between all of the different models from the OB to the VA series ... But I'll leave it here for now so as not to confuse the heck out of ya'll
Cheers

They worked hard, two bus companies in Warrnambool had some. School bus and workers bus from district farm areas into town. Drivers usually worked in town through the day. Used to be flat out in each gear, copped a flogging.
