Non matching shadows tend to give away photo shopped images.

IIRC, that photo was on the cover of Truck & Bus, so predates photoshop, that's not to say the picture has not been altered.

I'm tipping the "arial shadow" is a marker on the side of the track to give some indication on where find the right spot to aim for in the ever-changing sandy track.

There was another coach like this on cover of Truck and Bus, some years earlier
Was bogie drive and built for off road work, was 8V71 powered
It wasn't as modern as this coach but of similar style
